Hong Kong and Singapore media cover Round 2
TV crew from Hong Kong and reporter from Singapore on the scene at Autopolis
After visiting numerous tourist sites around Kyushu to report on the local tourist attractions, they came to Autopolis on the 4th and 5th of race weekend to cover the Formula Nippon action. The coverage filmed by the crew from TVB will be broadcast on the station's "Sports World" program over three days for a total of 30 minutes. As for the articles by the journalist from Singapore, they will appear in general newspapers, magazines and on the internet.
About her first visit to Autopolis, Hong Kong's TVB announcer Cindy Lee said that she personally is a bit scared by the kind of speed the machines reached, she found the drivers to be really cool. She found some very interesting people among the drivers she interviewed.
The journalist from Singapore, Cheryl Tay, writes for numerous media and covers motor sports around Asia and Europe. He reports on everything from F1 and the MotoGP to drift racing. He of course knew about Formula NIPPON. He commented that he has read in several publications about a number of drivers who had come to compete in Japan's F2 and F3000 and then moved up to F1 racing. He also noted the fact that since most information about Formula NIPPON is available only in Japanese and the races are held only in Japan, the competition is not very well known in the other countries of Asia. And he expressed the opinion that if a few races were held in other Asian countries the series would become more popular around Asia. He mentioned that Singapore now has a new international circuit and it would be good if one round was held there in the future.
