2017 Super Formula Rd. 7 Races Cancelled due to Typhoon
2017 Super Formula Round 7 races have been cancelled due to a powerful typhoon currently hitting Japan. Q1 of the knock out qualifying session was held with several red flags coming out due to crashes, etc., resulting from severe course conditions because of heavy rain. It was declared too dangerous to proceed any further bringing the 2017 season finale to an abrupt hault.
As there were no changes in the top 3 driver’s point rankings, Hiroaki Ishiura won the Series Championship by a narrow margin of 0.5 points over Pierre Gasly. Felix Rosenqvist was 3rd. Pierre Gasly also won Rookie of the Year honors.
