The über popular touring car race series TCR, is scheduled to begin in Japan in the 2019 season. TCR Japan will hold its first-ever testing at Fuji Speedway on March 26 & 27 from 12:00 to 13:00 on both days. All TCR cars are based on 4 or 5 door production vehicles, have 2.0 liter turbo-charged engines and feature FWD. TCR has grown on a worldwide level since its start in 2015 and the TCR series take place in many territories in many countries under almost the same exact standard regulations.
Some 15 cars are slated to compete in the TCR Japan series in 2019, with 5 races being held in conjunction with Super Formula races. 4 touring car makes/models are scheduled to compete this season in the TCR Japan Series: Audi RS3 LMS, Honda Civic Type R TCR, Volkswagen Golf GT1 TCR, Alpha Romeo Giulietta TCR. 23 minutes + 1 lap sprint races will be held with both a qualifying and race scheduled on both Saturdays and Sundays on race weekend.
